A few months ago I decided that I wanted to make a change in my life and one of the areas I need a huge change is my health. I have dealt with many challenges as it pertains to becoming healthier, some of my own and other internally, ( I will share more of these stories in my blog) but recently I was introduced to a product that has helped many to lose 5lbs in 5 days, I've personally lost 6lbs in 10 days, but very excited about that small accomplishment. So within the product line I have seen many success stories and decided to create on of my own. Using the dietary supplements and some will power I have decided to embark on a 30 Day Weight Loss Challenge to jump start my change. Feel free to follow my journey or join me whenever you feel like you are ready for a change.

Holidays and Dieting

So how do you start a diet regimen the week before a holiday my cousin asks? Well, as someone who loves to cook and enjoy great food, food is often the center piece of many celebrations and accomplishments. So I knew going into this that I wouldn't be void of any holiday or celebrations. I did keep in mind that I had about 8 weeks until I traveled again so I wanted to get the more challenging part of the program down before my travel dates began.

So yesterday our family had their Memorial Day BBQ, in which I am usually responsible for my famous potato salad and other tasty treats I felt like cooking.  Being 3 days into Phase 2 which is the 23 VLCD's (very low calorie day), I had to find a way to attend and not indulge in the manner that I was use to. Boy do I love a good homemade burger, a spicy hot link topped with coleslaw with a side of potato salad and sweet baked beans, load of chips and dip, and cocktails galore finished with peach cobbler, ice cream, and other desserts floating around. Sound like fun huh? I know someone can relate.

Being committed to my the HCG Lifestyle  I opted not to make the potato salad, heck if I couldn't enjoy why torture myself making it, so I took store bought dressed up. Selfish huh, but I'm learning to be selfish if it is the best option for me to reach my goals. I started my morning with a cup of coffee, some nuts, later I enjoyed a nice kale salad that was HCG friendly (kale, cucumber, green onions, apples, strawberries tossed in vinegar and lemon juice.  And then came the harder part, as the potluck items rolled in I had to fight urges so I opted for these bad but extremely small portions to satisfy my taste buds. I had a slider size burger wrapped in lettuce with a tomato slice with a squirt of mustard, A teaspoon of the dressed up potato salad, 1/3rd of a ear of corn,  1/3 of a hot link, more nuts, cantaloupe, and one potato chip off my cousins plate.... lol (I love potato chips). I drank plenty of water and Iaso Detox Tea. I finished the night with a shot glass of merlot.

I re-started tracking my calories to help me gauge my calorie limits. Was it approved food? No. But you will always be around food and have to find a way to enjoy the festivities without going over board. I woke up this morning the the scale down 2lbs more. With the holiday behind me I can continue my journey and enjoy success, 21 days to go, 8lbs under my feet.
